Rock and roll night here and good drinks. You can't get locked in the bathroom. Seats are good too. Pool tables check. Old 70s building

We've been meaning to try this place, but we aren't "lounge" regulars. One night we decided to give it a go! We were pleasantly surprised by the very clean and cozy atmosphere, the friendly service and diverse group of customers. I guess they used to allow smoking inside and they don't anymore. I'm very sensitive to smoke and I didn't smell any. I also think they used to have a reputation for very strong drinks. We ordered margaritas - which weren't that awful sweet kind - and they were just right and not overwhelmingly strong. Won't become a regular, but I'm glad we visited and would recommend it to anyone interested in local lore.

Are you a problem drinker? Have your friends and family approached you about your habits? Have you repeatedly assured them that you have it under control, all the while dabbing at sweat from your brow while eyeing your dwindling bank account? Well, boy, do I have the solution for you! Come on down to the Azalea Cocktail Lounge-- or just "The Z", if you're nasty, and most of us are! Not necessarily in a hygienic way, but definitely in a metaphorical way. The Z will supply you with all manner of potent libations sufficient to drown out the pitiable cries of your lachrymose loved ones. If your drinking has been slowly leaching away the financial solvency of your family, the Azalea may provide a swift solution! Come on down and order whatever mixed drink you like. You will receive a Long Island Iced Tea. Not literally, but in terms of alcohol content. If you feel like having a dainty little nip of Amaretto Sour, expect it to hit you like a Long Island Iced Tea, because it will. Every pour is a triple. You literally can't fit a double pour into a highball glass here, so don't bother asking. You will receive enough alcohol-- and for extraordinarily reasonable prices!-- that your family will be able to recover their financial stability solely from the money that you're saving on alcohol by drinking here. You don't even have to address your inner demons! No longer shall alcoholism mean absurd amounts of money strained into a tumbler every night! The Z can sustain alcoholics on a budget, and their excellent staff will do it with a smile. Gone are the days of the sneering bartender who looked like the villain from Silence of the Lambs. Now, the bar is manned by people who unaccountably do not appear to hate their jobs! Instead, they serve you warmly, and welcome you back. Because they see the same sad alcoholics come back over and over again. It's the only place they can find a glimmer of happiness. Come see why! It's not just where everybody knows your name; it's also where you can still afford to drink. Sure, it's smoky, but you're too drunk to care, anyway. And if you're not, well, have a drink and you will be. Viva La Z!

Definitely a classic Pensacola dive bar. Cash only, STRONG drinks for under $6, jukebox, darts, pool, claw machine.... If you can't stand cigarette smoke you should probably pass on this place, but honestly you should check it out regardless. The Z has been around since the 1940's and still sports some of the original art work and interior from many years ago that give it a certain charm.

If you're a barfly at all you know that one's choice of bar is a very personal selection that cannot be based upon internet hype. With that in mind, I still feel obligated to communicate the greatness that is the Z. If your idea of a great bar is dark and smoky with a decent jukebox and a barkeep with a heavy pour, this is your bar. The patrons are always quite interesting, so if you're new to town and looking to meet fun folks, hit up the Z.
